Indy’s Baxter YMCA receives $1M donation for outdoor sports complex

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — A YMCA on the south aspect of Indianapolis is transferring forward with plans for an outside sports activities advanced after receiving an nameless $1 million donation.

The Arthur R. Baxter YMCA, positioned at 7900 Shelby Avenue, will break floor on the sports activities advanced in March, the YMCA of Larger Indianapolis stated Tuesday.

A further $100,000 is required to finish the advanced, which is able to finally embody basketball and pickleball courts, two soccer parks, a 40-yard turf subject, a pavilion, and an outside strolling path.

“We’re addressing some unmet wants in our group with the addition of turf fields and a strolling path,” Jim Naumovich, middle advisory board chair for Baxter YMCA, stated in a press release. “The Baxter YMCA is a magnet that draws people of all ages and from all walks of life, and this improvement will present further alternatives to interact the general public in addition to our members.”

The Baxter YMCA says it’s searching for companies and people to purchase naming rights for your entire advanced in addition to the 2 soccer parks, turf subject, and basketball and pickleball courts.
