Indianapolis Indians hosting hiring event for game day employees


INDIANAPOLIS — The Indianapolis Indians are hoping to make a home run experience for fans this season.

To make that possible, they’re looking to hire for several seasonal game day positions at Victory Field.

A job fair took place Saturday afternoon, giving on-the-spot interviews for the following roles:

  • Clubhouse workers
  • Field operations crew
  • Ticket sellers
  • Merchandise associates
  • Ushers

There will be another hiring event at the ballpark on Feb. 22 from 4-6 p.m. Applicants must be at least 16-years-old. Free parking is available in the Victory Field parking lot.
The Indians’ 75-game home schedule begins Friday, April 2 at 6:35 p.m. against the Memphis Redbirds.

1 killed, 1 injured in two-car crash on the north side of Indianapolis


INDIANAPOLIS — One person died and one was injured in a two-car crash early Saturday morning on the north side of Indianapolis.

Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department officers responded to the intersection of East 64th Street and Allisonville Road at 2:30 a.m.

IMPD says one person was pronounced dead at the scene and another was sent to a local hospital in stable condition.

Investigators believe a silver Hyundai Accent was driving northbound on Allisonville Road when it crossed into oncoming traffic and struck a Chrysler 300 head on.

IMPD believes alcohol was a factor in the crash.

Bluebeard restaurant announces new executive chef


One of Indianapolis’ most beloved eateries will see a shake-up next month.

Fletcher Place fine dining restaurant Bluebeard announced the hire of new executive chef Alan Sternberg on Friday, marking the end of a nearly 12-year run with chef Abbi Merriss.

Sternberg, a two-time James Beard Rising Star semifinalist, previously served as an executive chef at Indianapolis eatery Iozzo’s Garden of Italy and Field Brewing in Westfield. Per Bluebeard’s website, Sternberg specializes in modern twists on Midwestern food with an emphasis on local ingredients and creative aesthetics.

Merris co-founded Bluebeard in 2012 along with father-son duo Tom and Ed Battista of Amelia’s Bread.

Merriss, who has received multiple James Beard Award nominations, was also head chef at Kan-Kan Cinema and Brasserie from its opening in 2021 until she stepped away to refocus on Bluebeard in spring 2023.

Sternberg is expected to officially start as head chef March 1.
