With the Indianapolis Colts currently on break until training camp, ESPN suggests one last move they need to make this offseason.

The Indianapolis Colts entered the offseason with the goal to never have another season like last year. After going 4-12-1 in 2022, the franchise knew it was time for some major changes. The biggest changes that have been made in Indianapolis were hiring Shane Steichen and drafting Anthony Richardson. With Steichen, Richardson, and several other promising young players, there’s optimism about the next era of Colts football.

However, Indianapolis didn’t address everything that it needed to this offseason. With training camp roughly a month away, there are still some holes and question marks on Indy’s roster. The good news, though, is that training camp is roughly a month away. There’s still plenty of time to make moves.

In a recent ESPN article, Field Yates looked at one move that every team could use this late in the offseason before the start of training camp. For the Colts, Yates suggested that Indy signs guard Dalton Risner.

Several people have said Indy should make this move; it simply makes too much sense. As Yates explained, Indianapolis’ offensive line was bad in 2022, and Dalton Risner would be a better option at right guard than Will Fries and Danny Pinter, the projected two top right guards for Indy.

Yates also points out the most important thing: the Colts will have a rookie quarterback in Anthony Richardson. Why would Indianapolis even want to gamble on the interior offensive line with a young quarterback taking snaps. If for no other reason, protecting Richardson should be enough motivation for the Colts to sign Risner.

Dalton Risner is also a great run blocker, and that will likely still be Indy’s identity with Jonathan Taylor in the backfield and the dual-threat Richardson at quarterback. When the Colts return in late July for training camp, they should be doing so with Dalton Risner on the roster.
