Landspout tornado hits northern Randolph County
INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — A twister was on the bottom Saturday afternoon north of Winchester, climate spotters informed the Nationwide Climate Service.
Photographs on social media confirmed an extended, skinny, spiraling twister that’s referred to as a landspout.
The twister was reported about 7 miles north of Winchester and 10 miles south of Portland, close to Ridgeville. The city of 685 folks is in northern Randolph County, which sits within the Indiana-Ohio border.
A twister warning was issued from the climate service shortly after 3:30 p.m. Saturday. The warning expired at 3:45 p.m. and was not prolonged into neighboring Jay County. The twister was shifting northeast at 20 mph.
No injures from the storm was instantly reported.
Regulation enforcement informed the climate service that the twister probably an outbuilding was broken about 4 miles north-northwest of Winchester.
