Women’s Tennis Falls at Illinois – Ole Miss Athletics – Hotty Toddy

CHAMPAIGN, Ill. – Despite winning four first sets, Ole Miss women’s tennis drops match at Illinois, 4-0.  

Ole Miss (3-2) pushed ahead at No. 1 doubles but could not finish once Illinois (5-2) clinched the doubles point. The Fighting Illini grabbed courts two and three, winning 6-3.

In singles, the Rebels again started hot, taking the opening sets on four of the six positions. However, while fighting in second or third sets, Illinois grabbed straight-set victories at the first and fourth positions. Illinois secured the 4-0 sweep with a three-set win at No. 3 singles.

The Rebels were battling in the second set at the two, five, and six singles positions, hoping to turn the momentum; however, they did not get a chance to finish.

The Rebels return home to host Baylor on Saturday, February 14 at 2 p.m. CT.
