UND fills running back coach job with Western Illinois’ Donnell Kirkwood
GRAND FORKS — The UND soccer program misplaced its operating backs coach this offseason to a different workforce inside the Missouri Valley Soccer Convention.
The Combating Hawks will fill that position by additionally pulling in a coach from inside the league.
UND has employed Western Illinois operating backs coach Donnell Kirkwood Jr. to teach the Combating Hawks’ operating backs, the college introduced Tuesday.
Kirkwood fills the position vacated by Steve Crutchley, who left to teach the broad receivers at North Dakota State.
“He performed operating again on the FBS degree and can carry that have together with an distinctive understanding of educating expertise wanted to excel at that place,” UND coach Bubba Schweigert stated. “He has a robust data of the Missouri Valley Soccer Convention and expertise recruiting in our prime recruiting areas.”
Previous to teaching operating backs at Western Illinois, Kirkwood spent two seasons because the operating backs coach and participant expertise coordinator at Northern State in Aberdeen, S.D.
UND defensive position coach Austin Flyger was the defensive coordinator at Northern State in 2019 below then-Northern State head coach Tom Dosch, who works for the UND Alumni Affiliation and Basis and was the Combating Hawks’ radio analyst final season.
Kirkwood performed for 5 seasons on the College of Minnesota, seeing motion in 53 video games. In his sophomore yr with the Gophers, Kirkwood led Minnesota with 218 carries for 926 yards and 6 touchdowns.
Kirkwood is a Delray Seaside, Fla., native.
