FREEPORT — A northern Illinois lady has died about two weeks after she was severely injured when her home exploded and caught fireplace, officers stated.

Bonnie Bawinkel, 60, of Freeport died Monday night on account of thermal accidents from the Sept. 13 explosion, the Winnebago County Coroner’s Workplace stated in a information launch.

Bawinkel and her husband, Al, have been initially handled at a Freeport hospital earlier than being airlifted to the OSF Saint Anthony Medical Middle in Rockford, the Rockford Register Star reported.
