Illinois State Trooper rear-ended on Eisenhower Expressway

An Illinois State Trooper’s squad automobile was rear-ended on the Eisenhower Expressway Saturday night.

Police responded to a two-vehicle crash within the westbound lanes of I-290 simply east of Higgins Street round 6:22 p.m.

An ISP Trooper was parked on the left shoulder of the expressway with emergency lights activated, dealing with a visitors crash. 

Police say a Blue 2016 Volkswagen Tiguan, touring westbound, didn’t yield to the emergency automobile and struck the rear of the squad automobile. The Trooper was contained in the squad automobile on the time of the crash and was transported to an space hospital with non-life-threatening accidents. 

The driving force of the Volkswagen, 27-year-old Jasmine Solano of Des Plaines, was issued citations below Scott’s Legislation or the Transfer Over Legislation.

When approaching an emergency automobile, or any automobile with their emergency or hazard lights activated, drivers are required to decelerate and transfer over, the ISP reminds drivers.
