Illinois police recruits now required to take wrongful conviction course
CHICAGO – There’s a new coaching requirement this 12 months for all police recruits in Illinois.
Officers in coaching should take the course “Wrongful Conviction Avoidance”.
The course teaches the significance of fastidiously gathering and analyzing proof in investigations, and never leaping to conclusions about suspects.
“A variety of these wrongful convictions police could have had some position in, and even unintentionally, simply not following greatest practices,” stated Michael Schlosser.

“We’re coaching the brand new technology. You already know, we’re getting them on the market on the road. We would like them to do the job the correct means,” he added.
Schlosser developed the course for the College of Illinois Urbana-Champaign’s Police Coaching Institute with leaders of the Illinois Innocence Venture on the U of I Springfield.
