DECATUR, Ailing. (WCIA) — A household of eagles was left with no nest on Tuesday. There wasn’t a lot left of it after it fell to the bottom. The chicken you see within the nest is the one one which stayed. A second chicken safely made it to the bottom – and it’s being cared for on the raptor heart in Decatur. The third eagle broke each wings after falling and is being handled at U of I’s animal clinic. The raptor heart constructed a brand new nest for the birds. They mentioned they construct nests on a regular basis, however they’ve by no means made one for a bald eagle.

Raptor Middle Program Director Jacques Nuzzo mentioned, “We’ve achieved it with grey horned owls we’ve achieved it with barred owls and crimson tail hawks. This could be the primary time we’ve achieved it with an eagle. I do know different folks have achieved it and it really works so we needed to construct a brief nest, however there are not any plans for non permanent bald eagle nests so we needed to invent it as we went alongside.”

The nest they made is 6-feet in diameter which is in regards to the dimension of a starter nest for a bald eagle. Nuzzo mentioned the nest that fell was in all probability near 8-feet lengthy. The brand new nest will go up on Thursday.
