2 Marion, Illinois, residents charged with stealing 5K from Clayton hotel room

CLAYTON, Mo. (First Alert 4) – Two Marion, Illinois, residents are charged with stealing $315,000 from a man’s hotel room in Clayton.

St. Louis County prosecutors charged Kristin J. Sanders last week and Reanna M. Gallamore on Tuesday both with stealing over $25,0000. Summons were sent to the suspects with a Feb. 25 court date.

Clayton Police said in charging documents the alleged theft happened on Aug. 24, 2024, at the Ritz Carlton at Carondelet Plaza. When officers arrived, the victim said his room had been ransacked and $315,000 in cash had been stolen.

First Alert 4 asked the St. Louis County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office why the victim had that amount of cash in the room. A spokesperson responded they could not comment beyond court filings in the case.

According to Clayton Police, the victim said Gallamore met him at the hotel for dinner and he gave her a room key. She allegedly left his presence several times during the evening before she complained of feeling sick and left for good while they were at a casino.

Surveillance video showed a man later identified as Sanders entering the room shortly after the victim and Gallamore went to the casino, according to charging documents.

Police said Gallamore used $13,000 of the stolen cash for a down payment on a vehicle and that Sanders paid $24,000 for a car with the money. Authorities conducted a search warrant at their residence and located another $95,000 in cash, charging documents state.

A backpack in the surveillance footage from the hotel also matched a backpack found at that residence, police said. Gallamore allegedly admitted during questioning to giving Sanders the key to steal from the room.
