Heavy rain causing flooding in Metro Detroit

4Warn Weather – Heavy rain has prompted flood advisories in Southeast Michigan.

Thunderstorms with heavy rain are slowly moving across Southeast Michigan and Southwestern Ontario. The downpours are leading to street flooding in some areas.

Minor flooding was reported on the eastbound lanes of I-94 at Conner Street in Detroit during the afternoon, according to the National Weather Service.

Do not attempt to drive through floodwaters.

Some strong storms may produce wind gusts up to 40 mph, but severe weather is not expected.

Temperatures this evening will range from the lower 70s to the upper 70s. When it is not raining, skies will still be cloudy to mostly cloudy.

Tonight, scattered showers and thunderstorms will be in the area. Patchy fog will develop during the overnight hours. Lows will only fall to the mid-60s.

On Monday, there will be a chance of a few showers. Otherwise, it will be mostly cloudy. Highs will be in the lower 80s. Winds will be out of the north-northwest at 5 to 10 mph.

Skies will be mostly sunny for Independence Day. Highs will be in the upper 80s to near 90 degrees, and it will easily feel like it is in the mid-90s. Winds will be out of the west and west-southwest at 5 to 10 mph.

It will be mostly clear on Tuesday night with lows in the upper 60s.
