Timothy Loehmann withdraws application for Tioga Borough police officer
CLEVELAND, Ohio (WOIO) – On Thursday morning, former Cleveland Police Officer Timothy Loehmann withdrew his software for the Tioga Borough police division in Pennsylvania.
The information first surfaced Wednesday on social media that Loehmann had been sworn in because the division’s sole police officer.
When Loehmann was a Cleveland police officer, he shot and killed Tamir Rice, 12, on Nov. 22, 2014. Rice was carrying an airsoft gun, with the orange tip eliminated.
Samaria Rice, the mom of Tamir Rice, stated it’s “pathetic, it’s pitiful, it’s a disgrace,” after studying about Loehmann’s new job on Wednesday.
“The system is damaged, as a result of police reform is definitely not working. You’ll rent somebody figuring out he has murdered a 12-year-old youngster. How dare you. How dare you do it,” Rice acknowledged.
Loehmann and the opposite officer concerned have been by no means charged with any prison wrongdoing in Tamir’s demise.
However, Loehmann was fired years later from the Cleveland Police Division for offering false info on his job software.
The Metropolis of Cleveland settled a lawsuit with the Rice Household for $6 million.
David Wilcox, Tioga Borough’s Mayor, responded to considerations on social media pages Wednesday saying: “This has nothing to do with me. Council hires, fires and background checks. I actually wasn’t even allowed to take his resume with me the day they interviewed him.”
