CLEVELAND, Ohio – Cleveland police are investigating a shooting near John Hay High School on Wednesday that caused officials to lock down the building.

Shots were fired “in the area, not inside or related to the school,” according to a social media post from the police department’s Third District.

Police said a 55-year-old man was shot in the lower jaw about 12:35 p.m. and driven to the Cleveland Clinic for treatment.

Case Western Reserve University’s Division of Public Safety sent an advisory to make students and staff aware of the incident.
