BARBERTON, Ohio — State Rep. Bob Young was charged with domestic violence, Barberton Municipal Court records show.

Young, whose address is listed as North Canton in his case file, also was charged with disrupting public service in the Friday incident. He was arrested by the Summit County Sheriff’s Office, records say. He is currently serving his second term in the Ohio House of Representatives.

Cleveland.com and The Plain Dealer reached out to Young for comment and has asked the Summit County Sheriff’s Office for a copy of the police report.

A docket entry on Young’s case says he “did knowingly cause, or attempt to cause physical harm to victim, a family or household member…”

Court records do not say where the incident took place, but the court serves Barberton, Norton, Copley, New Franklin, Coventry and Clinton and Green, Young’s hometown, according to the Ohio HOR website.

According to the House, Young “married his Green High School sweetheart, Tina, and they have four school-age children.” The family lives in Green.

Young was given a $5,000 bond by Barberton Municipal Court Judge Todd M. McKenney Saturday, records say, though it does not say if he is jailed or out on a personal bond.
