NWS confirms at least 1 tornado from Thursday night’s storms

CLEVELAND — The National Weather Service confirmed at least one tornado touched down in northwest Ohio during Thursday night’s storms.

  • NWS said the tornado was confirmed between Oak Harbor, Port Clinton and Whites Landing around 7:01 p.m.
  • Strong storms spurred up Tornado Warnings throughout the evening in several counties
  • Some areas reported damage, like Sandusky, while others reported large hail, strong winds and a lot of lightning

NWS said the tornado was confirmed between Oak Harbor, Port Clinton and Whites Landing around 7:01 p.m.

NWS is expected to survey the damage in those areas, as well as other areas that have been hit hard by the storms.

Storms started out in far northwestern Ohio Thursday afternoon and moved southeast, spurring up Tornado Warnings in several counties, including Ashland, Richland, Huron and Wayne counties. Some areas, like Sandusky, had damage and others reported large hail. 


 


Strong storms will continue to move through northeast Ohio and parts of central Ohio, but are expected to clear out in the early morning hours.
