CLEVELAND, OH — Damian Janiszewski provided the lone bright spot for Niagara, but the Purple Eagles could not generate any additional momentum as Cleveland State swept the doubles point and cruised to a 6-1 men’s tennis victory Sunday.

Cleveland State won all three doubles matches to claim the doubles point before carrying that momentum into singles play. Janiszewski kept Niagara’s hopes alive at the No. 1 position, defeating Nico Jamison 4-6, 6-2, 1-0 to give the Purple Eagles their only point of the match.

The Vikings dominated the rest of the singles slate, with four players winning in straight sets. Carl Gedlitschka handled Aryav Bhawan 6-0, 6-1 at No. 2, while Maxime Aremon topped Logan Wong 6-4, 6-0 at No. 3. Cole Chappell defeated Sarosh Rustomjee 6-0, 6-2 at No. 4, and Devin Boyer bested Shriven Somasi 6-4, 6-0 at No. 5. Andrew Zimcosky closed out the singles competition with a 6-1, 6-1 win over Ekansh Shukla at No. 6.

In doubles, the Aremon-Tristan Stine tandem downed Bhawan and Janiszewski 6-3 at No. 1, the pairing of Chappell and Jamison beat Wong and Rustomjee 6-2 at No. 2, and Gedlitschka and Zimcosky defeated Shukla and Somasi 6-1 at No. 3.
