Man hit by public works truck on Cleveland’s West Side after trying to jump onto vehicle
CLEVELAND, Ohio (WOIO) – A man was struck by a City of Cleveland Public Works truck at the intersection of West 73rd and Lorain Avenue in Cleveland’s Detroit-Shoreway neighborhood Friday afternoon.
The incident happened around 2:30 pm.
According to a press release from the city, the man was hit by the vehicle when he attempted to jump onto the running boards of the truck.
The man was taken to MetroHealth Hospital in critical condition, according to Cleveland EMS.
The incident is being investigated by the Cleveland Division of Police Accident Investigation Unit. There is no further information available at this time.
Lorain Avenue was closed for about an hour and a half.
