BRUNSWICK, Ohio — At last. Most of the paving work along Pearl Road is done, and it’s such a relief to those of us who use it often — and especially since school days are right around the corner. Hopefully it will last a long time.

Meanwhile, work is just beginning on West 130th Street as Columbia Gas begins installation of the new gas line near Crestview Elementary School. I think I’ll avoid the area as much as possible for a while.

That was cool! It was so great to see Brunswick resident Summer Rios absolutely kill it in her on-air audition for “America’s Got Talent.” She was so good, the next day she was written up in Billboard!

You can see it at https://www.msn.com/en-us/music/news/pizza-maker-teen-summer-rios-stuns-with-audition-on-america-s-got-talent-watch/ar-AA1eFlr6 and you can replay it at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fjVKWpp8Jh8.

Hard to fathom: I’m wondering where the summer went. I’ve noticed that since I’ve been active in the farmers markets at the Brunswick Area Historical Society’s Heritage Farm, the weeks fly by.

If you’ve been trying to win one of those beautiful benches made by Rick Scheutzow, better hurry. The second winner is set to be drawn Aug. 27 and the third on the final day of the market — Oct. 8.

Of course, there’s also the back-to-school activities — even though it seems as if the kids just got out for the summer.

Hope you’ve enjoyed the summer so far, and if you haven’t stopped by to say hello at Heritage Farm, remember we’re there from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. every Sunday. If you’ve never toured the historic farmhouse, be sure to stop by. I’ll be happy to talk about the big red barn, too.

See you soon.
