East Cleveland woman sentenced for murder of young mother

CLEVELAND, Ohio (WOIO) – A 25-year-old woman was sentenced Tuesday by Cuyahoga County Court of Common Pleas Judge John Sutula to 24 years in prison for the murder of a young East Cleveland mother.

In June, Amelia Patrice Jackson pleaded guilty to involuntary manslaughter and felonious assault for the fatal shooting of Tamasha Ussery, 22, in July 2023.

Ussery was shot in the 1800 block of Taylor Rd. around 4:30 a.m. on July 9, 2023 in a parking lot behind an apartment building.

Police said Ussery, Jackson and a few other women were hanging out together and the two were arguing before they arrived to Taylor Road.

The altercation that came prior to the shooting was caught on surveillance video.

It was a key piece of evidence to the case, which police said was solved in 18 hours.

Ussery leaves behind a daughter and a son.
