CLEVELAND — Dr. James R. “Jim” Billak, DO, 72, of Wellsville, handed away Friday morning, Nov. 11, 2022, at College Hospital, surrounded by his household.

Jim was born Aug. 18, 1950, in Farrell, Pa., a son of Andy and Paula Capson Billak.

He was a graduate of Kennedy Catholic Excessive College in Hermitage, Pa., and went on to earn his bachelor’s and grasp’s levels from the College of Pittsburgh. Jim earned his medical diploma from Philadelphia Faculty of Osteopathic Drugs (PCOM), serving his residency at Riverside Hospital in Delaware. He then served a three-year inner medication residency in Atlantic Metropolis, N.J. Jim’s in depth schooling and dedication led him to be one of the completed and revered physicians within the space.

For 35 years, Jim served as a board-certified emergency room doctor. He labored in hospitals from Youngstown, to Beaver, Pa., and was affiliated with the Salem Regional Medical Heart for the final 18 years. As a member of the American Board of Emergency Drugs, Jim was captivated with his work and was grateful to make use of his data, knowledge and expertise to help others in want.

When he was not within the hospital, Jim loved nature and was an avid outdoorsman. He favored to hunt and was all the time working together with his palms. He was an avid collector of instruments and a pure born artist. Jim was an animal lover, particularly keen on his canine, Trubel, and his cat, Kevin.

Most of all, Jim liked his household. To him, there was no higher pleasure than being surrounded by his children and grandkids. His humorousness, his quick-witted jokes and his smile shall be deeply missed by all who knew and liked him.

Jim will all the time be remembered by his spouse of 39 years, Katie M. (Moore) Billak; youngsters, Shannon (David) Ghossain of Mars, Pa., J.C. (April) Billak of Roswell, Ga., Caron (Josh) Stover of Atlanta, and Lauren (Nathan) Farnau of Marietta, Ga.; and 5 grandchildren, Max, Kameron, Malone, JD and Darren.

Moreover his mother and father, Jim was preceded in demise by a brother, Rick Billak.

Jim’s household honored him with a non-public visitation and memorial. They wish to acknowledge and thank the various professionals at Salem Regional Medical Heart, with whom Jim cast a powerful bond, cared for deeply and regarded household. Additionally, a particular thanks goes to the medical professionals of College Hospital in Cleveland, who cared for Jim throughout his closing days.
