CLEVELAND, Ohio – Collision Bend Brewing Co. is planning to relive 10 Cent Beer Night, albeit with a few changes.

First, there will be no chair throwing, streaking or general drunken rowdiness.

Second, the beer will be much better than the pedestrian offerings of 1974.

The 49th anniversary of the infamous night at Cleveland Municipal Stadium is Sunday. On June 4, 1974, beers were sold for a dime, and the subsequent – and unsurprising – inebriation for some of the 25,000 fans in attendance resulted in a forfeit for Cleveland against Texas.

The brewery will be selling any Collision Bend beer that is less than 7% alcohol for 10 cents a glass for 49 minutes on Sunday. The dime special will start at 2 p.m. and end at 2:49 p.m. with a limit of two 12-ounce beers per customer. (That’s another difference – the orderly limit vs. the free-for-all, six-at-a-time rule in place in 1974.)

Last year, 75 to 100 people attended the 48th anniversary special. This year, drinkers will receive an extra minute of imbibing.

The Guardians play at Minnesota on Sunday. First pitch is 2:10 p.m.

Collision Bend is at 1250 Old River Road, Cleveland.
