Cleveland firefighter accused of killing roommate appears in court

WILLOUGHBY, Ohio (WOIO) – A Cleveland firefighter accused of fatally capturing his roommate final month appeared in Willoughby Municipal Court docket Thursday morning.

Kevin McCarthy, 25, is charged with voluntary manslaughter for the April 14 capturing.

In court docket Thursday, his lawyer waived the preliminary listening to and McCarthy’s case has now been certain over to the Lake County Grand Jury.

Willoughby police stated MCarthy known as 911 at 8:16 p.m. saying he unintentionally shot and killed Christian Kilburg, 25.

The capturing occurred at their house on Grove Avenue.

“I can’t consider this occurred,” McCarthy stated to dispatchers whereas ready for police to reach. “I used to be going to kill myself.”

McCarthy was launched on a $50,000 bond, however stays below home arrest with a GPS monitor.
