ORWELL — Charles F. Vernon, 92, passed away Friday, Sept. 15, 2023, at David Simpson Hospice House in Cleveland, following an extended illness.

He was born Feb. 12, 1931, in Warren, the only son of the late Thomas and Lena Long Vernon.

He was a 1949 graduate of Warren G. Harding High School. Chuck worked several jobs for several employers in the area, including the Erie Railroad, the East Ohio Gas Company and Valley Steel Fabrication, and retired from Precision Rolled Products Inc., Reno, Nevada in 1993. He was also a retired U.S. Navy Reserve member, joining in June 1949, and retiring in 1972.

Chuck enjoyed golf, bowling and working bingo for the Bazetta-Cortland Optimist Club.

In 1993, after returning to Warren, he re-met and married Carol A. Williams-Vernon, who passed away May 3, 2010.

Surviving Chuck are his daughters, Deborah Perrett of Warren, Shawn Iwamasa of California and Erin McElrath of Niles; son, Michael Vernon of Orwell; stepson, Richie Williams II of Georgia and stepdaughter, Lori Williams-Worms of Niles; 12 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his sons, Daniel and Charles Jr.

A funeral service officiated by Pastor Keith Peachey will take place at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Sept. 22, 2023, at the Paine Funeral Home Inc., 140 E. Main St., Orwell, OH 44076, with a committal service to follow in Crown Hill Memorial Park, Vienna, Ohio. Visitation will be held , from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 21, 2023, at the funeral home.
