Armed shoplifter barricades himself inside fire vehicle outside South Euclid Walmart, police say
SOUTH EUCLID, Ohio (WOIO) – A number of cops and the E.D.G.E SWAT Crew have been referred to as to the Walmart within the 1800 block of Warrensville Heart Highway Friday morning after an armed man threatened a Walmart Loss Prevention Agent, mentioned South Euclid Police Chief Joe Mays.
This occurred round 10:45 a.m.
Based on Chief Mays, the shoplifter was armed with a knife.
After threatening the employee, the shoplifter ran outdoors the shop and entered a Shaker Heights Fireplace SUV, which was parked outdoors.
Chief Mays mentioned the shoplifter refused to depart the automobile and informed officers “simply kill me.”
Officers deployed Pepperball rounds into the SUV and the person opened the doorways, mentioned Chief Mays.
An officer then deployed one less-lethal spherical which struck the person in his left hip, mentioned Chief Mays.
After he was struck, the person exited the automobile and surrendered. Chief Mays mentioned he was transported to an area hospital as a precaution.
Chief Mays added a knife was recovered within the SUV.
Whereas the stand-off was ongoing, Walmart activated their menace coverage process and employees and consumers have been taken to a protected place contained in the constructing.
