CLEVELAND, Ohio (WOIO) – A 17-year-old has been identified as the suspected carjacker an Amazon worker shot and killed on Saturday.

The Cuyahoga County Medical Examiner identified the alleged carjacker as Alquin Wells, 17.

An Amazon driver shot and killed Wells Saturday afternoon at West 48th Street and Franklin Blvd in Cleveland.

Police say the Amazon driver was in the area working just after 4 p.m. when he was approached by Wells, who allegedly tried to carjack the Amazon worker at gunpoint.

Police say the suspect got behind the wheel and police believe the suspect then crashed the Amazon vehicle.

The Amazon worker shot Wells at some point during the encounter.

Wells was then pronounced dead on the scene.

Police say this is just preliminary information and they are still investigating.
