Summit police chief charged with bribery in liquor license transfer

SUMMIT, Sick. (WLS) — The Summit chief of police has been indicted on expenses of accepting bribes from an area businessman in a liquor license switch deal.

Prosecutors allege John Kosmowski conspired with a constructing inspector to simply accept greater than $5,000 from a businessman in 2017, in reference to transferring a liquor license to a different individual.

Kosmowski allegedly obtained the cost in money on March 23, 2017, then gave a few of it to the constructing inspector, in accordance with prosecutors. He additionally allegedly informed the inspector, 59-year-old William Mundy, who was additionally indicted, to say the bribe was a mortgage.

The 54-year-old is charged with one depend of bribery conspiracy, one county of bribery and one depend of obstruction of justice. Mundy is charged with one depend of bribery conspiracy and one depend of submitting a false tax return.

A date has not but been set for his or her arraignment in federal courtroom.
