Peru’s pre-Inca fortress wall collapse, landslide caught on video

PERU — A pre-Inca fortress wall courting way back to the tenth century C.E. collapsed in northern Peru on Monday, amid heavy rains which have lashed the Andean nation in latest days.

An eyewitness video captured the second the stone wall on the Kuelap settlement, some 1,000 kilometres (3,280 ft) north of Machu Picchu, got here crashing down.

Peru’s Ministry of Tradition mentioned the wall that collapsed prolonged about 15 metres (49 ft) lengthy and 12 metres (39 ft) excessive.

Settlement at Kuelap dates way back to the fifth century, however researchers consider development of the fortress occurred between the tenth and twelfth century.

The positioning is linked to the Chachapoyas tradition, which was conquered by the Inca.
