Illinois Secretary of State White extends driver’s license, ID card expiration dates until July

CHICAGO (WLS) — Illinois Secretary of State Jesse White introduced Friday that expiration dates for driver’s licenses and ID playing cards have been prolonged till July.

Driver’s license and ID card expiration dates had beforehand been prolonged to March 31, 2022. Now, expired driver’s licenses and ID playing cards will stay legitimate till July 31, 2022. The extension doesn’t apply to business driver’s licenses (CDL) and CDL learner’s permits.

The Secretary of State’s Workplace mentioned it has expended distant renewal for driver’s license and ID card holders. Letters have been despatched to eligible prospects with expired driver’s licenses and ID playing cards requiring them to resume on-line, by cellphone or by mail.

Those that are required to go to a facility embrace first-time driver’s license or ID card candidates, first-time REAL ID candidates and drivers ages 75 and older.

The U.S. Division of Homeland Safety has prolonged the federal REAL ID deadline to Could 3, 2023.
