Fisherman in critical condition after falling into Fox River near Antioch

ANTIOCH, In poor health. — A 73-year-old northern Illinois man was hospitalized in vital situation after being rescued from a Fox River channel, authorities mentioned.

The agricultural Antioch man fell into the channel whereas making an attempt to retrieve a fishing line Friday afternoon, Lake County sheriff’s deputies advised the Arlington Heights Day by day Herald.

One of many rescuers, a 74-year-old man from Winthrop Harbor, was fishing with the sufferer in a small boat when the incident occurred, deputies mentioned.

One of many males received his fishing line tangled within the weeds, deputies mentioned. The sufferer tried to retrieve the road however fell into the chilly water and was submerged for one to 2 minutes.

The 74-year-old tried to carry the sufferer’s head above water from the boat. He was assisted by a 48-year-old man from Villa Park who heard the 74-year-old man’s requires assist and jumped into the water to assist.

Sheriff’s deputies responded at 1:35 p.m. to the scene in unincorporated Lake County close to Antioch. They arrived because the sufferer was being pulled from the water.

The sufferer was taken by ambulance to a hospital.
