CHICAGO (WLS) — Neighborhood members, preservationists and environmentalists have declared Saturday is “Level Day,” an occasion geared toward repairing and saving the historic limestone step-stone revetment at Promontory Level Park.

The park options the final remaining stretch of limestone steps from the Works Progress Administration-era, constructed beneath President Franklin D. Roosevelt’s New Deal.
