Bloomingdale’s in Old Orchard Mall closing doors after 27 years in Skokie

SKOKIE, Unwell. (WLS) — A neighborhood mall is shedding a longtime tenant and being changed with a smaller format retailer.

Bloomingdale’s introduced that it’s closing its division retailer on the Westfield Previous Orchard Mall in Skokie by the tip of October.

The corporate additionally introduced a plan to open a smaller format retailer inside the mall.

Charles Anderson, Director of Gross sales for Bloomingdale’s stated the brand new 50,000 sq. toes retailer known as Bloomie’s will stay true to the high-end division retailer. The brand new retailer will occupy the place Barnes & Noble was situated.

Bloomingdale’s opened at Previous Orchard Mall in 1995. The mall has suffered blows to its tenant lists lately. In 2018, Lord & Taylor left and the pandemic pressured others to shut up store as nicely.

Anderson stated that clearance gross sales are set to start Sept. 6 and can run by the closure in October. Bloomie’s is ready to open in November on the earliest.
