A woman shared how she slimmed down from being a size XL to an XS – without exercising.

Instead of spending hours pumping iron in the gym, a woman called Caroline decided to focus her attention on her diet instead.

On her TikTok page, @carolinefitness25, Caroline showed off her impressive transformation. Before and after footage shows just how much healthier she looks – and to top it all off, she has a massive grin on her face now too.

After the clip went viral, people were full of questions. One said: “Can you tell me how? You are amazing”. And thankfully, Caroline responded.

Caroline replied: “Thank you so much!!!! [I did it by] staying in a calorie deficit, portioning my food, and eating in moderation!! I’ve made tons of videos and a series”.

To slim down, Caroline followed the key weight loss rule of staying in a “calorie deficit”. She knew she’d need to shave 500 calories off her daily intake to see results.

So she worked hard to keep track of her portion sizes, which prevented over-eating.

What is a calorie defecit?

A calorie deficit occurs when you consume fewer calories than your body needs to maintain its current weight. To sum things up, it’s the shortfall between the calories you take in (through food and drink) and the calories you expend (through exercise and general activities during the day).

If you’re looking to lose weight, trying to achieve a calorie deficit could be wise. When your body is in this state, it starts running on stored energy and body fat to keep you going.

Over time, this can lead to weight loss. But it’s important to tread carefully when reducing your calorie intake. Extreme caloric deficits are not recommended as they can lead to nutrient deficiencies, loss of muscle mass, and other health issues.

For that reason, we’d recommend seeing a doctor or health expert before getting started with any new diet plans. You can also visit the NHS website for more information.
