You can name Col. Tom Parker a cheat or a con man.

However in fact, he was a full-blooded carny man. He minimize his money-making enamel in a carnival sideshow, and he had an unerring intuition for what would entice the general public to loosen their purse strings.

By the point Parker first laid his eyes on a mop-haired child named Elvis Presley, he had already moved into the country-music administration biz. However his present guitar-plucking purchasers have been dropped like a sizzling rock after the fake colonel laid eyes on that skinny, leg-shaking boy.

Certainly, Elvis virtually smoldered with dark-haired beauty; the vocal oomph of a Black R&B singer; and the uncooked, hormonal attraction of each schoolgirl’s darkest fantasies. On high of all that, he was actually simply an inexperienced and nervous momma’s boy. And that made him a completely good challenge for Col. Tom Parker.

This boy named Elvis was a promoter’s dream. With just a bit tweaking, a little bit of fast-and-easy deal-making and sprint of merchandizing know-how—all issues in Parker’s talent set—they might make some fairly good cash. Greater cash, in truth, than Parker had ever hoped for.

The largest problem, after all, was determining how greatest to control the boy’s household and the way greatest to interrupt this jittery stallion. From there, Parker may have the ability to sit within the saddle and journey issues out for just a few years.

Who is aware of, carny man Col. Tom Parker may even put collectively the largest sideshow within the land.
