Crew Olympiad! Audio Film Review of ‘The Boys in the Boat’
Rating: 3.5/5.0 |
CHICAGO – Patrick McDonald of HollywoodChicago.com audio film review for “The Boys in the Boat,” the latest historical drama directed by George Clooney, about the rowing crew team that competed in the 1936 Berlin Olympics. In theaters since December 25th.
Joel Edgerton is Coach Al Ulbrickson, who mentors rowing crews for the University of Washington during the 1930s Depression. He leads a rag-tag bunch of underdog rowers, including Joe Rants (Callum Turner), through techniques and timing that makes them one of the best collegiate rowing teams in the country. When the opportunity to qualify for the 1936 Olympics come about, this unexpected and one-of-a-kind team get the opportunity to go for the gold, at an Olympics that is hosted by Herr Adolf Hitler. Can good old American sportsman save the day?
