The comedian, whose household introduced Tuesday that he died on the age of 67 after a protracted sickness, shared a photograph of him and fellow comic Chris Rock.
Rock was slapped by Will Smith whereas presenting on the Academy Awards after Rock made a joke about Smith’s spouse, Jada Pinkett Smith.

In a 2012 opinion piece for CNN, Gottfried defended fellow comics.
