BNSF scoops up land around Arizona project site – KTAR.com
BNSF is quietly scooping up Wittmann properties around an already sprawling site where the railway giant has long planned to build a $3.2 billion logistics park.
The company this month acquired 55.95 acres across 14 transactions totaling $9,033,750, according to Maricopa County property records. One seller told the Phoenix Business Journal they were unable to disclose more information as they signed a non-disclosure agreement with the Texas rail giant, while other sellers could not be reached for comment on Tuesday.
One transaction involved a property purchased in June 2025 for $95,000, which was then sold to BNSF in January for $150,000.
Lena Kent, a company spokesperson, confirmed in an email statement that the company recently purchased additional land in Wittmann adjacent to its existing property.
“This purchase included homes surrounded on all three sides by land BNSF already owned,” Kent said. “Given the proximity of these homes to Logistics Park Phoenix, BNSF believed acquiring the properties was a responsible and appropriate step, and we completed the transaction with willing sellers.”

Arizona detectives seek photos, videos in Nancy Guthrie search
The Pima County Sheriff’s Department continued to ask for the public’s help in finding missing 84-year-old Nancy Guthrie as the search for the mother of NBC “Today” co-host Savannah Guthrie neared its third day near her Tucson home.
“At this point, investigators believe she was taken from the home against her will, possibly in the middle of the night. Taken against her will includes possible kidnapping or abduction,” Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos said earlier in the day.
Investigators have teamed up with the FBI and U.S. Border Patrol while detectives went door-to-door asking neighbors for any helpful information or images from home security cameras. The department is also trying to find any traffic camera footage that might explain where Guthrie went.
“Our department has established a Tip Line QR code to streamline the sharing of information. Through this link, https://pimasheriff.evidence.com/axon/community-request/public/nancy-guthrie, members of the public can directly submit photos or videos that may be helpful to the investigation,” Pima County Sheriff’s Department spokesperson Angelica Carillo said in an emailed news release in the evening of Feb. 2.
Savannah Guthrie issued a brief statement on behalf of her family on the “Today” show in the morning.
“I want to thank everyone for the thoughts, prayers and messages of support,” she said. “Right now, our focus remains on the safe return of our dear mom.”
She thanked law enforcement officials and encouraged anyone with information to contact the Pima County Sheriff’s Department, which advised the public to call 911 or this number: 520-351-4900.
Her mother was described as a white female, approximately 5 feet 5 inches tall, weighing about 150 pounds, with brown hair and blue eyes. It was unknown what clothing she might be wearing.
She was last seen on the evening of Jan. 31, 2026, about 9:30 p.m. at her residence near Skyline Drive and Campbell Avenue in the Catalina Foothills part of metro Tucson.

Savannah Guthrie’s mom’s Arizona home treated as ‘crime scene’ following disappearance: cops
Savannah Guthrie’s mom Nancy’s home is being treated as a “crime scene” after she went missing.
“We believe now, after we process that crime scene, that we do, in fact, have a crime scene, that we do, in fact, have a crime and we’re asking the community’s help,” Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos said in a press conference Monday.
“She did not leave on her own,” he added.
“Circumstances on scene that we believe are suspicious in nature.”
Nanos said Nancy was “sharp as a tack” and “isn’t somebody who just wandered off” due to her age and “physical limits.”
The sheriff also urged the community to look at their home security cameras to aid in their investigation.
“We need help,” he pleaded to the public, noting that Nancy needs vital daily medication to survive.
Nanos said authorities have Nancy’s cell phone and they are planning to analyze it for any leads.
The 84-year-old was last seen Saturday night around 9:30 p.m. local time at her home in Catalina Foothills, Ariz.
During a press conference Sunday night, Nanos shared that Nancy’s relative called 911 earlier in the day to report her missing.
He also revealed that search and rescue teams were looking for the elder by ground and air.
Nanos shared that the state of Nancy’s home following her disappearance raised “some concern for us.”
“This is very concerning to us. We don’t typically get the sheriff out at a scene like this. But it’s very concerning what we’re learning from the house,” Nanos explained Sunday.
Savannah, 54, skipped Monday morning’s “Today” show episode, as she immediately traveled to Arizona to aid in the search for her mom.
The broadcast journalist’s co-hosts shared a statement from her that read: “On behalf of our family, I want to thank everyone for the thoughts, prayers and messages of support. Right now, our focus remains on the safe return of our dear mom.
“We thank law enforcement for their hard work on this case and encourage anyone with information to contact the Pima County Sheriff’s Department at 520-351-4900.”
Savannah’s former “Today” show co-host, Hoda Kotb, shared a cryptic message as authorities continue their search mission.
The author, 61, posted the word “hope” over a rainbow on Instagram Monday morning.
