Louisiana Tech transfer DT David Blay commits to Miami


Miami received a commitment from its first defensive lineman of the winter transfer portal window. Louisiana Tech transfer David Blay pledged to Miami Saturday afternoon.

He chose Miami over Illinois, Oklahoma, Penn State, and USC.

In three seasons, the 6’4″, 300-plus pounder recorded 101 tackles, 23 tackles for loss, and 11.5 sacks. He played 443 snaps in 2024.

According to Pro Football Focus, Blay has a 76.9 run defense grade, an 80.2 tackling grade, and a 64.7 pass rush grade.

Blay is a Philadelphia (PA) native and played for D-2 school West Chester University before transferring to Louisiana Tech.

According to Rivals.com Blay was an unrated player coming out of Truman High School in Levittown, PA.

Blay will join an interior defensive line group in Miami that includes Ahmad Moten and Justin Scott.

Man wanted out of Louisiana arrested in Mississippi


YAZOO CITY, Miss. (WLBT) – A man wanted out of Louisiana was arrested in Yazoo City on Friday night.

At approximately 9:45 p.m., Yazoo City Police officers responded to the Double Quick gas station for a report of two suspicious male subjects wearing all black pacing around the building.

Those subjects were not found, but while patrolling the area of Double Quick, they were alerted by a concerned citizen about a different, unknown individual who was being “very suspicious,” according to Yazoo City Police Chief Patrick Jaco.

Upon investigating the situation further, it was found by officers that the man was wanted out of Louisiana for escape.

Upon making contact with Krisean Salinas, the officers took Salinas into custody.

Salinas was then taken to the Yazoo City Police Department, where he awaits extradition back to Louisiana.

Murder suspects among 8 inmates who escaped Louisiana jail; manhunt launched

A manhunt has been launched after eight inmates — three of whom are facing murder charges — escaped Friday morning from a northeast Louisiana jail.

Louisiana State Police confirmed the men, all considered “violent offenders,” were reported missing from the Riverbend Detention Center at 1:20 a.m. 

Five inmates remain unaccounted for: Destin Brogan, 22, Kelin Looney, 21, Krisean Salinas, 21, Kevin Slaughter, 25, and Koplelon Vicknair, 19.

The three inmates who were captured after the escape were identified as Hugo Molino, 27; Trenton Taplin, 29; and Savon Wheeler, 31.

Louisiana Attorney General Liz Murrill said she has been in contact with East Carroll Parish Sheriff Wydette Williams and Louisiana Sheriffs’ Association President Kevin Cobb.

“[I] have offered the full assistance of my office, including the Fugitive Apprehension Unit,” Murrill wrote in a statement on X. “I am actively monitoring the situation.”

The East Carroll Parish Sheriff’s Office requested the Louisiana State Police Detectives–Monroe Field Office assume the lead role in finding and apprehending the fugitives. 

The sheriff’s office, which previously had most of its deputies searching for the inmates, will serve as the lead agency in the investigation.

“Do not approach under any circumstances,” state police wrote in a statement. “If you observe or have information regarding their whereabouts, contact law enforcement immediately.”

It is unclear how the men escaped, and no additional details have been released by authorities.

Local outlet WAFB 9 News reported Taplin was charged with first-degree murder and attempted murder, and Brogan and Looney were both facing charges of second-degree murder.

Vicknair was reportedly awaiting sentencing on charges related to a 2023 homicide, according to KQKI News.
