play

MADISON – After a slow start, the Wisconsin volleyball team is storming into the Big Ten season.

The Badgers, who started 0-3, won their sixth straight match Saturday night, sweeping previously undefeated Texas A&M in front of an announced crowd of 7,229 at the UW Field House.

The six-match winning streak included three victories over teams that are receiving votes in the American Volleyball Coaches Association poll.

The Aggies aren’t one of those teams, though with eight straight wins to open the season they were off to the third-best start in program history.

UW senior Julia Orzol finished with a season-high 15 kills and posted a .375 hitting percentage in the 25-18, 30-28, 25-19 victory. Sarah Franklin, another senior, posted 14 kills, a .312 hitting percentage and with 10 digs netted her third double-double of the season. Next in line was senior Anna Smrek (seven kills, .263).

The match completed the non-conference portion of the Badgers’ schedule. They open Big Ten play Wednesday at No. 17 Minnesota.

How many homes could be built in Northeast Wisconsin in 2026?

How many homes could be built in Northeast Wisconsin in 2026?

(Stacker) – Homebuilding plays a critical role in maintaining a steady housing supply and keeping prices at sustainable levels. As the U.S. population grows, more housing is needed to meet demand. Since the Great Recession, construction has lagged well behind what is needed, which is one of the main reasons home prices are so high today.

Supply has slowly increased over the past few years but is still below what is needed for the market to balance out. Until that gap closes, prices are likely to remain elevated, and many buyers will likely struggle to afford a home.

So, how many homes are getting built in Northeast Wisconsin in 2026? Is construction increasing or decreasing?

Redfin Real Estate analyzed the rate of housing permits issued in the cities of Appleton, Fond du Lac, Green Bay, Oshkosh and Sheboygan over the past 13 months to find out.
