Saadiya Fratila, director of business administration for the College of Arts and Science at the University of Missouri-Columbia, has been named assistant vice chancellor for business operations and strategy at Missouri University of Science and Technology. Fratila’s appointment begins July 1.
In this role, Fratila will spearhead revenue-generating initiatives across various operational facets, including print and mail services, events and hospitality management, and parking operations. With a keen eye for strategic development, she will craft and execute a forward-thinking vision aligned with the university’s overarching goals. Additionally, Fratila will oversee the campus’s business administration function, ensuring efficiency and effectiveness, while also managing dining and retail contracts. She will report to Alysha O’Neil, vice chancellor for finance and operations.
“I’m really looking forward to seeing the positive impact Saadiya can have on business operations at S&T given her extensive background in higher education and broad international experience,” O’Neil says.
Fratila holds an MBA and a bachelor’s degree in business administration from the University of Peshawar, Pakistan. Her career includes experience with international humanitarian organizations, such as the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), where she specialized in post-conflict and post-disaster regions across South Asia, the Middle East, and Africa.
Fratila joined MU’s staff a decade ago, most recently serving as the director of business administration for the College of Arts and Science since 2020. In this role, she has provided strategic fiscal guidance to the college dean, covering a broad spectrum of areas, including strategic planning, finance, budget planning, human resources operations, information technology, facilities, renovations, capital expenditures, real estate and faculty recruitment.

A fundraiser on Friday helped raise money for a mid-Missouri family’s effort to get their daughter medical treatment.
Hurts Donut from Springfield, Mo., traveled to Ashland to help the Kroeckel family raise money for their daughter, Harper’s, life-changing medical treatment in Italy.

The donut shop set up shop at the Ashland Optimists Club and donated 100% of its Special Tribute donut sales to the Kroeckel family, as well as 10% of the proceeds from its dozen donut sales.

A prominent mid-Misssouri attorney has pleaded NOT guilty to a felony charge of enticement or attempted enticement of a child.
56-year-old Daniel Walter Follett is charged in Boone County Circuit Court. He had served as the Missouri Department of Revenue’s (DOR) general counsel until he was fired after last week’s arrest.
Court documents filed by Boone County prosecutors say Follett was allegedly using a prostitution website “to solicit sexual services from a person whom he believed to be a 16-year-old child.” The Boone County Sheriff’s Department’s probable cause statement says Follett allegedly arrived at an address in Boone County last week to pay money to have sex with a female whom he believed was under the age of 17.
Follett, who is currently jailed without bond, is scheduled to appear in court Tuesday afternoon before Judge Kimberly Shaw and is expected to request home detention, based on online court records.

It reads: “The Department is aware of an out-of-office incident involving a staff member who was arrested and charged with criminal activity. What’s next: Follett is scheduled to appear in Boone County Circuit Court on Tuesday at 1 pm for a bond hearing before Judge Kimberly Shaw. Follett is represented by defense attorney Jessica Caldera, a former Boone County assistant prosecutor. Follett is expected to request home detention from the court until his trial. Boone County prosecutors have described Follett in a court filing as a flight risk.
