Wyoming’s 4-H kids make cat wrangling look easy
DOUGLAS, Wyo. (Wyoming News Now) – 4-H kids at the Wyoming State Fair show off all kinds of critters, and on Wednesday, it was cats.
Cat showmanship is serious business. Youth spend the morning making sure their cats are prim and proper before they go in front of the judge.
Elenda Larue is showing her cat, Peach. She says, “You have to stand up straight, tall and smile, and you gotta tell the judge if she’s long hair or short hair, what type of breed she is.”
These cats and their owners are top notch. Youth are judged on their knowledge of their animal and their ability to show them off.
This year, Ruth Werner is showing her cat, Socks. She explains, “I’ve shown several different cats, and I’ve learned a lot about their temperaments and how you should keep them calm when showing. He’s just a very good-tempered cat, he keeps calm when you’re messing with him and showing the eyes and stuff. He’s just a really good cat.”
The Wyoming State Fair runs through Saturday, August 17.
