Wyoming man pleads guilty in 2013 sexual assaults in Kalamazoo County

(CBS DETROIT) – A 30-year-old man has pled responsible in connection to 2 sexual assaults he dedicated towards two Kalamazoo County girls in 2013.

Michael Vincenzo Johnson of Casper, Wyoming, pled responsible to 2 counts of third-degree legal sexual assault, Michigan Legal professional Dana Nessel introduced Thursday.

Officers say the primary incident occurred on Jan. 19, 2013, in a Western Michigan College dorm room. 

The sufferer was an 18-year-old freshman who was in a state of utmost intoxication and bodily helpless, and Johnson was a 20-year-old upperclassman.

The second assault occurred at a house on Feb. 15 or 16 in Augusta, Michigan. 

Officers say Johnson pressured himself on a 16-year-old highschool pupil throughout this incident. 

The Western Michigan College Police Division referred the case to the Kalamazoo Sexual Assault Equipment Initiative (SAKI) mission in 2017.

SAKI reopened the case in 2020 and realized in regards to the second sufferer throughout the investigation. Authorities interviewed the sufferer and the defendant. Officers say the sufferer’s sexual assault package was examined in 2013, however a police report was not generated.
