Washington County to open severe weather shelter this weekend
WASHINGTON COUNTY, Ore. (KPTV) – Washington County will open their extreme climate shelter this weekend attributable to winter-like climate circumstances.
The county says it is going to open the doorways of the shelter on the Salvation Military Constructing, 1440 Southeast twenty first Avenue in Hillsboro, at 3 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 18. It’ll stay open 24 hours till 10 a.m. on Monday, Nov. 21.
Nobody can be turned away and pets are okay, the county says. Sizzling meals can be supplied to these staying on the shelter.
In a single day lows for the weekend could dip into the excessive 20s and low 30s. The county says the inclement climate shelters could also be activated when:
- Forecasted temperature of 25° F (-3.9° C) or beneath; or
- Forecasted snow accumulations of 1.0 inch or extra; or
- Forecasted temperature at or beneath 32° F (0° C) with driving rain of 1.0 inch or extra in a single day.
