Traffic stop leads to arrest in Washington County


WASHINGTON COUNTY, Fla. (WJHG/WECP) – A Caryville man is facing multiple drug-related charges after a traffic stop in Washington County on Friday.

Deputies say at around 11 a.m., they conducted a traffic stop on St. Mary’s Road and made contact with the driver, 55-year-old Bobby Gene Englebright.

While speaking with the driver, deputies reportedly detected the odor of narcotics from inside the vehicle.

Officials say a search of the vehicle was conducted, and several illegal items were found inside.

Englebright was arrested and transported to the Washington County Jail on charges of possession of methamphetamine, possession of paraphernalia and possession of a controlled substance.

Washington Nationals release right-handed pitcher Drew Smith


WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. (AP) — The Washington Nationals released right-handed pitcher Drew Smith on Saturday.

Smith, 32, had signed a minor league deal with an invitation to major league camp after missing the entire 2025 season to recover from Tommy John surgery. He went 1-1 with a 3.06 ERA and two saves in 19 relief appearances with the New York Mets in 2024.

Smith has gone 12-13 with a 3.48 ERA and five saves in 191 career games, all with the Mets.
