Leftover snow, frigid air could close schools again Wednesday in D.C. area
This article will be updated with actual closings and delays as they come in. Predictions are provided below.
Because of freezing temperatures, little snow melted Tuesday and many neighborhood roads are still messy. Using past storms as a guide, it takes road crews about 36 to 48 hours to reach some of the more remote areas.
It seems likely that students and teachers will experience a second straight snow day in the larger counties north and west of the Beltway. For school systems inside the Beltway and to the south and east, a delay is more probable.
Throughout the region, a snow day is generally less of lock compared to Tuesday, so do your homework just in case you’re back in class!
The Office of Personnel Management surprised us by giving most federal workers the day off Tuesday, but it’s probable that they’re back at their desks Wednesday. That said, we think there’s a good chance they’ll have the option of unscheduled leave or telework, and we wouldn’t rule out a delayed opening.
