Jaguars Claim 2 Players, Including Former Washington 4th-Rounder Wes Martin

The Jacksonville Jaguars made two additions to the roster on Wednesday, making the most of their place on the waiver wire by claiming offensive guard Wes Martin and defensive finish/outdoors linebacker Rashod Berry.

Martin was claimed off of waivers from the New York Giants, whereas Berry was claimed off of waivers from the Detroit Lions.

Martin will now reunite with Jaguars offensive line coach Phil Rauscher, who coached Martin throughout his rookie season when Rauscher was the assistant offensive line coach and ultimately the interim offensive line coach for Washington.

Rauscher served as Washington’s assistant offensive line coach below esteemed offensive line coach Invoice Callahan. When Callahan turned the crew’s interim head coach, Rauscher was promoted to interim offensive line coach, giving him important expertise with Martin.

Martin was initially drafted by Washington within the fourth spherical of the 2019 draft, with Washington choosing him out of Indiana with the No. 131 decide. Martin performed in 9 video games and began 5 as a rookie. He appeared in 16 extra video games in 2020 and began 5.

Throughout his time with Washington, Martin frolicked at each left and proper guard, even filling in for present Jaguars proper guard and former Washington proper guard Brandon Scherff at occasions. Martin was drafted by Washington when Rauscher had an enormous position with the franchise as properly, making his match with the Jaguars and fellow guards Ben Bartch and Will Richardson Jr. clear.
