Commanders hiring Cowboys assistant Sharrif Floyd to similar role with Washington

Dan Quinn appears to be taking another one of his assistants with him from Dallas to Washington.

A person familiar with the situation told The Dallas Morning News’ Michael Gehlken on Tuesday that Cowboys assistant defensive line coach Sharrif Floyd is taking the same job with the Commanders.

The move signals a continued changing of the guard on the defensive coaching staff.

Seattle hired Aden Durde, formerly the Cowboys defensive line coach, to be their new defensive coordinator last week. Joe Whitt Jr. also went with Quinn to the Commanders to become Washington’s defensive coordinator.

The Cowboys have finalized a contract agreement with Mike Zimmer to take over the defensive coordinator role next season. Refilling some holes in his staff will surely be one of the first orders of business.
