OGDEN — In a trip up north, Utah women’s soccer went the full time but couldn’t gain the advantage against Weber State in a 1-1 draw Thursday night.

Utah has been successful on the road, where it remains undefeated through its first five road matches of the season, notching two wins and three ties. The undefeated road stretch is a first for the program.

The Wildcats struck first Thursday night on a successful shot from Ogden native Grace Kirby with six minutes remaining in the first half, but it was a rare shot on goal. Utah’s defense limited Weber State to only two shots in the first half.

The Utes had eight shots on goal in the first 45 minutes but weren’t able to find any scoring as Wildcats keeper Hadley Harris was on point and kept the Utes scoreless with three saves.

Early in the second half, the Utes found their equalizing goal as Taliana Kaufusi headed one home off of a corner kick from Courtney Brown, but it was the last time either team could get into the back of the net.

The Wildcats finished the night with five shots on goal, while Harris had seven saves in the 90-minute match. Utah attempted 19 shots, with sophomore Lilliah Blum racking up seven of her own.

Weber State will travel north to Moscow, Idaho, to vie for its first win of the season against the Idaho Vandals on Sept. 20 at 8 p.m MDT. The Utes, who are now 3-2-3, will close out the nonconference schedule on the road at Colorado State on Sunday at 1 p.m. MDT.
