Utah Christians unite for Good Friday procession in downtown SLC

Utah Christians united to mark the beginning of Western Christianity’s holiest weekend of the 12 months with a Good Friday procession by the guts of Salt Lake Metropolis.

It marked the fortieth anniversary of this pre-Easter staple. (It didn’t happen in 2020 because of the COVID-19 pandemic.)

The annual interfaith Procession of the Cross began on the Cathedral of the Madeleine on South Temple adopted by stops at close by First Presbyterian Church, Crossroads City Heart, First United Methodist Church and St. Mark’s Episcopal Cathedral.

The march is supposed to symbolically retrace Jesus’ steps to Golgotha, with members taking turns bearing the cross in a buildup to Easter Sunday.
