Utah air quality improves as cold front sweeps through state
SALT LAKE CITY (KUTV) — A cold front has moved through Utah and has overturned the inversion, leaving us with fresher and cleaner air.
The showers over southern Utah have moved out, leaving Utah clear and cold this morning. This will lead to some of the coldest temperatures of the season Sunday morning.
While the eastern and southern half of the country deal with ice, snow and extremely cold temperatures, generally our weather stays dry and cold, which is expected for the rest of the weekend for the Wasatch Front.
Air quality has improved and will get even better for a couple of days; both Sunday and Monday we expect green air, meaning it’s good and clean air.
With high pressure returning to the forecast next week, hazy conditions will likely return by the middle of the workweek or sooner. After the coldest temperatures of the season this weekend, temperatures slowly warm over the next seven days, and no significant precipitation is expected anywhere in Utah through at least next week.
